GoSchoolBox UX Research Project

Redesigning Class Enrollment Flow

UX Researcher and Designer

January - March 2022

Summary

I led a group of 5 other students to redo the class enrollment process for GoSchoolBox, a startup that helps provide K-12 tutorial and class sessions. I was required to rework an existing product and conduct usability testing, so I decided to work with a company directly in order to maximize my learning in class by communicating with other stakeholders. I worked on the requirements list, user persona, and root cause analysis, conducted usability testing, and helped work on the interactable prototypes. The other students on my team also worked on these tasks, and I focused mostly on the research and writing portion of the project.

This project was for my Fundamentals of UX class at UCLA, and I reached out to work with GoSchoolBox as I was already working there as a software engineer intern. Our final product was well-received and I got perfect marks for the class project. We presented our findings and prototypes to the Head of Product and got good feedback regarding our usability testing. While the final prototype was ultimately not utilized by GoSchoolBox, I learned a lot from the experience. I learned how to work on a design from start to finish, communicate with a variety of stakeholders, and consider the needs of both the business and the users when implementing designs.
